"Ginkgo at Bodaiji Temple" (nationally designated natural monument) is estimated to be 900 years old. It is a giant tree representing Okayama Prefecture that quietly towers in the precincts of the Bodaiji Temple on the hillside of Nagi National Park. Bodai-ji Temple was founded by the founder of the Jodo sect, Honen Shonin, and was introduced to Buddhism
It is the first place to study for Honin, and has been selected as one of the 100 Best New Japan Trees.
